In between class 15 (Resources and Costs) and demo day, the students worked on financial modeling and prepping their presentations.
The teams asked if we could look at how paid advertising and digital marketing works, particularly for Google and Facebook.
This week the teams asked to discuss customer acquisition. I structure the curriculum to be as helpful as possible for their current problems.
Moving into the third week now of the startup accelerator, I’m starting to get more of a rhythm for how the business model canvas class is run.
I think the Kanban Board, embodying the two schools of Scrumm and Agile, is the perfect tool to cut through the clutter and focus a team.
I view good experiments as the most critical skill to improve as an entrepreneur. The problem to avoid is bi-fold: (1) throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks and (2) not completing experiments before starting new ones.
The goal of the first class is to get the teams into “startup” mode. That means out of school mode, where they are supposed to be giving the right answer.
